A shaggy dog story

Well they've done it again!!

Click the title to be taken to the full news story.

Basically a certain force started a full scale major investigation after finding a trail of blood in a park. Only to discover a lady's dog had cut its leg on some glass whilst she was out walking it!

All I can say is, I feel sorry for the officers who had to guard the scene all night in the middle of February!

You have much to learn....
What if they had not called out the chopper, the dogs etc, and a while later a young girl had been found with knife wounds and had died from loss of blood?
Imagine if the post mortem had found that she had taken 8 hours to die slowly... and the police had ignored what COULD have been an attempt murder scene.
We would have failed miserably in our duty to the girl and society, and been subject to criminal prosecution ourselves. And as for the press response... It would make the Soham murders intelligence mess look small in comparison.
This is why you have Sergeants and Inspectors to make decisions, and choppers to find out if it is a girl or a dog, and all the other specialised teams. They are there for the 'what if' scenarios. Always safer to explore the 'what if' coppers path of logic, rather than the 'its probably just nothing' mentality of non job people. It will take time, but you will learn.
